Ewald, the host, is a delight! So friendly, helpful and went to such lengths to check and ensure we were comfortable. Vegans and vegetarians, have no fear! Just let them know ahead of your arrival and you will be served the most thoughtful, delicious vegan and vegetarian (included!) breakfast for miles! Appliances in the room were all brand new, sparkling clean and well thought out. If you're there on a Saturday morning, stroll up the road to join the local Calvinia Parkrun in the reserve - a beautiful morning run with a handful of friendly local runners in a breathtakingly beautiful, expansive landscape. Our Akkerdam experience left us with nothing but smiles and plans to stop over there again.

The stay was nice and you could see they were upgrading. Elsabie was very friendly and helpful and organised us a braai for the night. Very nice people. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was good.
