The Faroe Islands tourist visa is issued to applicants who intend to visit the island for tourism and leisure. Entry into the Faroe Islands is by transit through Denmark as it is not a Schengen country.   Visas are to be requested for at the Denmark embassy or consulate in South Africa.  It should be noted that applicants must have it clearly stated on their visa that it is valid for the Faroe Islands. as the absence of this information on the applicant's  visa results  into denial of entry. The applicant must present a valid passport  that must have been issued in ten years before the application period. Passport photo requirements include the following:  The photo should have been taken in at least six months before the application date. The photo should measure 2 x 2 cm. The photo should show  60-70% face and  should have a white background.  There should be no head coverings and the expression on the applicant's face must be neutral.                                  A proof of financial stability of the applicant for the duration of stay should be provided. Applicants must also have a flight itinerary accompanying their documents such as a  birth certificate, marriage certificate etc.

In the case of an employed individual going on behalf of his or her company, a signed leave of permission from his or her company is required.
